KINGSTON, JAMAICA -- Jamaican Prime Minister, Bruce Golding, told Parliament he wants to expand casino gambling in Jamaica as a way to generate more tax revenues to pay for health care, education, and security.
As you know, Jamaica does not have any casinos in their country, with the exception of a few hotels with areas marked off for slot machines and video poker. The socially-conservative country has opposed the development of casino gambling facilities in the past, led primarily by the Christian religious organizations in the country.
If Jamaica decides to allow new mega-casino resorts within their country, they will accept bids and proposals from top international casino developers such as Vegas Sands, MGM Mirage, and Wynn Resorts.
The construction of new mega-casino resorts in Jamaica will result in billions of dollars of capital invested in the economy immediately, as well as create thousands of jobs for the citizens. Jamaica Parliament will debate the issue before summer break.
Most of the gambling and casino action will be marketed towards international tourists visiting the country, with strict limitations for local players and citizens of the country.
