The Honourable Bruce Golding, Prime Minister of Jamaica, to host Palmyra Foundation Fundraiser on December 8, 2007.

(MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA) - November 12, 2007 - The Honourable Bruce Golding, Prime Minister of Jamaica, will officially host the Palmyra Foundation fundraiser set for Saturday, December 8. The Prime Minister, who has agreed to support the Foundation's effort in keeping with his own commitment to ensure better educational opportunities for all Jamaicans, is delivering the main address at the fundraiser which is expected to draw several hundred people.

Set to kick off at 7:00 p.m. at the newly opened luxury shopping village of The Shoppes at Rose Hall, Montego Bay, the fundraiser will be a combination of fun entertainment and gastronomic delights from around the world. Climaxing with a live auction loaded with desirable items, attendees will have the opportunity to bid on:

Noted Kathi Constanzo, Chairperson of the non-profit organization; - "The Palmyra Foundation's goals and objectives tie in closely with Prime Minister Golding's own commitment to education. We feel extremely privileged to have the Prime Minister as our keynote speaker and are honored to join hands with him and the nation by investing in the children of Jamaica."

"This fundraiser is for the children," said Constanzo. "We believe that every child has a success story to live, given the basic tools. Opportunities are endless when you can read and write." In it's first year, The Palmyra Foundation provided more than 15,000 textbooks to approximately 2,000 four and five year old school children enrolled in all 11 public infant schools in St. James parish. The distribution was made with the help of volunteers from Bryan's Book Store and the local community. In addition to the many volunteers who contributed both time and money to the Foundation, the Foundation Chairperson commended its partners from the private sector who participated to make this year's book distribution a reality, including Billy Craig Insurance, Deloitte and Touche, NCB and Miami based SB Architects.

Said the Foundation Chairperson; "In our first year, we were able to raise our target of JA$4,4 million. Additionally, The Palmyra Resort & Spa has generously absorbed all operational expenses. With the December 8 Fundraiser, we are hoping to get off to a great start for next year's textbook purchases."

Several island companies, including red Stripe, Digicel and NCB, are joining the Palmyra Foundation in the efforts to make the event a night to remember.
