Palmyra Newsletter Vol 12 - June 2008
Welcome to the latest edition of The Palmyra Resort & Spa's Newsletter.
We are, once again, delighted to fill you in on the great things happening on the fantastic island of Jamaica and at The Palmyra Resort & Spa.
Our construction team has been working furiously to complete your future island home and we are happy to fill you in on the latest construction report.
Sabal Palm Tower
All the masonry work has been completed, to include public areas and rough casting of the walls. The parapet walls for the roof are complete. The roughcast and rendering of the external walls are practically complete, and the installation of the roof molding is currently taking place.
Augmentation is underway and being tiled to the 7th floor. Also with new plasterers on board, the units have now been tape and textured to the 8th floor. Sheetrock has now reached the 12th floor.
Scaffolding was reinstalled to the southern section of the building to facilitate the external wall painting.
Installation of plumbing is completed, up to the 12th floor. The fire alarm system is completed to the 10th floor, and all the major MEP activities are complete.
The FFE Team completed the installation of stud walls on floors 1 - 12, and has commenced sheet rock installation on floors 2-12.
The second floor units have been closed, as final finish work is wrapping up.
The roofing subcontractor has completed the east, west wings and the main roof.
Silver Palm Tower
All masonry work is complete, from the 1st - 13th floors. The roughcast and rendering of the external surface is approximately 95% complete.
The studs and framing are complete and but sheetrock has now reached the 4th floor, as FF&E looks to close up all walls.
MEP work is currently in full progress, the FFE crew has completed the installation of studs, up to the twelfth floor.
The roof contractor has competed the framing and sheeting of the east and west wings. The tile contractor has installed the roof tiles on this section, and they have commenced the sheeting of the main roof.
Sentry Palm Tower
The 13th floor has been competed, and all concrete work is now finished.
The general contractor has completed masonry work, in the garage level, through 12 floors. They are in the process of applying the external rough cast and rendering to the building.
Villa 11
Villa 11 is 99% complete.
The plunge pool in the villa, with all accessories, is operational.
The furnishing and hardware have been installed, to include some appliances.
Villas 5 - 10
We have completed 95% of the exterior rendering of the walls, the roofs are complete.
A sub-contractor has been hired for the interior finishing to these Villas.
Clubhouse
We have completed the 3rd floor slab with walls and are currently working on the 4th floor.
Water tanks have been poured. The floors have been cleaned and we have completed block walls on all the available floor of the clubhouse.
SPA
The third floor slab of the SPA has been completely poured. Currently, main sections of the roof are being finished.
All block walls, rough cast and rendering is complete.We have commenced preparation of the laundry room, for equipment installation. The basement slab of the spa building is poured.
We have commenced coordination with Deckelmann-Wellness for the installation of the SPA finishes.
Palmyra Beach
The revetment is 99% complete pending completion of steps. Sabal Palm steps have been completed and the pool steps are in progress.
The construction of the timber bridge has been completed.
The construction on the gazebo concrete walkway and the gazebo structure has been completed.
Pools
Tropical Pools has completed excavating and chipping of the piles, in the main pool foundation. They have poured the pile caps and completed the installation of the foundation steel and have poured the base.
Cogen Building
Foundation works have commenced. They have completed all the foundation beams and footings.
The main trusses have been installed along with all the roof decking.
The concrete contractor has completed 95% of the masonry walls for the building.
All the electrical grounding and drainage works have been completed, and they are in the process of pouring the building slab on grade.
The LPG tanks have arrived on site and are ready for installation.
Environmental Monitoring
Monthly environmental monitoring done by an independent consultant, CL environmental.
They ensure that the Noise Levels, Water Quality and Air Quality are within the specified limit.

Celebration Jamaica - Major Development for Montego Bay's Gold Coast
With the Government's recent announcement that patrons will very soon be able to enjoy real casino gambling in Jamaica, the addition of Celebration Jamaica, a development which will include the island's first casino hotel, came at the perfect time.
Celebration Jamaica will be located on 65 acres adjacent to The Palmyra across the street from the three championship golf courses of Rose Hall, Jamaica creating the new ‘hot-spot' for the in-crowd to reside and play. The project enjoys the extraordinary feature of being less than 15 minutes drive from the Montego Bay International Airport connected by a brand new 4 lane highway.
