The Palmyra Foundation
Mission Statement
The Palmyra Foundation is dedicated to providing the children of Jamaica with the financial support to attain a proper education, by supplying all of their required textbooks without charge.
Core Values:
1. Commitment to the school children of Jamaica.
2. Focus on child development through education.
3. Promoting community service.
4. Promoting a positive outlook and enhancing self esteem.
Our interest is to encourage the youth of Jamaica, in getting their education by making it more affordable and therefore more accessible while promoting hope, a positive outlook and prosperity for the betterment of not only themselves, but for our beautiful country of Jamaica.
The budget of $4,400,000, which had been raised between the launch and the beginning of the 07/08 school year, enabled The Palmyra Foundation to supply ALL Infant Public School and Public Infant departments in St. James. The schools are as follows (list provided to us by the ministry of Education):
- Bickersteth Infant Department
- Cambridge Infant School
- Catherine Hall Infant Department
- Chatsworth Infant Department
- Goodwill Infant Department
- Green Pond Infant Department
- Montego Bay Infant School
- Mt. Horeb Infant Department
- Providence Heights Infant School
- Somerton Infant Department
- Vaughansfield Infant Department
As awareness grows, so will The Palmyra Foundation and eventually, the ultimate goal of being able to help all of the Public school children in St. James totaling over 40,000 children, will be fulfilled.
A self-imposed annual audit on the foundation is provided by Deloitte & Touche. This audit will insure the sponsors that EVERY DOLLAR donated will go directly to the beautiful children providing them with educational tools. This is possible because of the generous donation from The Palmyra Resort & Spa who is covering all of the operating expenses.
Aim for Future Years
The Palmyra Foundation will supply textbooks to more and more children in future years with the mission of supplying all textbooks to all the students in St. James. With the further aim of expanding the Foundation's mission of supplying textbooks, to include supplying uniforms, school lunches and more.
